Project #12410037
6. 10. – 9. 10. 2024
The whole programme consists of two exchange trips to the respective countries (20 students + 5 adults). The trips will concentrate on presenting each country´s perspective of the shared topics. The first trip will see the Slovak participants coming to Czechia. The topics will deal with Czech sign language, Czech Deaf community, its history and culture, learning how to interpret, social background and practice of the profession, etc. Active participation in the workshops is expected. The final outcome, after both the trips have been completed, should be a comparison of the Czech and Slovak study programmes and the ways the profession functions in the two countries, possibly in the form of a mini conference and/or a publication. We propose:
Day 1
Welcoming the visitors, accommodation, short social programme, introducing the town and school.
Day 2
Tour of the school, classroom observations (sign language lessons), local sign language mini course for the visitors; ice-breakers and social games (based on Deaf culture).
Day 3
Workshops on relevant topics (culture, interpretation and services, etc.), sightseeing around the town with interpreting for Deaf coleagues.
Day 4
Workshops on both study programmes, interpreting in schools, ethics in interpeting, etc.; final discussion and feedback.
The exchange trip will be repeated with the same structure and schedule as mentioned above, in Slovakia.
